Fashion Fools?

20140402-204659.jpg
If you’re at all tuned-in to the fashion blogosphere, you probably witnessed Cupcakes and Cashmere’s April fool’s tease: The Statement Anklet. While the 4/1 post date was a pretty obvious indication that we were being tricked, I have to admit that I’m actually a little bit upset that this “trend” is a hoax! After all…those ubiquitous statement necklaces of yesteryear HAVE been taking up more space in your jewelry box than on your neck as of late, no? Plus, nothing jazzes up a bare leg like some jewels, right? 😉 K, maybe not, but I’m all about a little ankle icing every now and then. I mean THESE?! Kind of fabulous. Honestly, if this trend catches on, I won’t hate it.
Were you a victim of any April Fools shenanigans yesterday? Any similarly awful-but amazing styles you secretly love?

Saturday Night Style Inspiration: Details Galore

20140329-212626.jpg
What’s the first thing you notice when you glance at this image? A back full of bows? The iconic Chanel bag? Maybe the wide-brim hat? This look has a lot going on. From the perfectly highlighted, bed-head mop tucked under the aforementioned wool hat to the fingerless gloves, I love the casual juxtaposition of classic, tailored lines and pieces with more effortless and relaxed shapes. And those details! There are style elements to look at everywhere. Perhaps it’s more suited for a Sunday brunch or Saturday-day out shopping, but it’s still totally inspirational. After all, that effortless, cozy-chic vibe always has a certain appeal and a little Chanel never hurt anyone, right? 😉
What are you wearing tonight?

Hot or Not: Candy Couture

20140315-192447.jpgFrom Charlotte Olympia to Swatch, candy gone couture seems to have become fashion’s latest accessory trend. Even Chanel has taken part–Lagerfeld himself sent logo-emblazoned candy-inspired creations pictured above down his runway last week! Though those double-Cs won’t be available until August, the aforementioned offering from Charlotte Olympia–a pair of $945 pastel pumps complete with a “candy bracelet-inspired anklet”–are up for grabs right now. Love the look, but aren’t willing to drop nearly $1000 on an ultra-trendy item? Swatch’s “Caramellisima” watch clocks in (ha) at $60 and provides massive (adorable) style mileage. At an even CHEAPER price point, Perpetual Kid keeps it classic with this $6 faux candy necklace choker. Love!
What do you think of the candy couture trend? Is this a look you like? Something you’d wear? Hot or Not?!

Mani Monday: Give Me The Eye

20140310-155324.jpg

You know how sometimes you see something–in fashion or otherwise–that isn’t exactly in tune with your personal aesthetic, but you somehow love it anyway? This manicure is that for me. This week’s nail art is the epitome of eye-catching with super bold prints on each individual digit. On-trend, captivating, and artistic? Definitely mani-Monday worthy. Personally, I’d file these long-lashed, bright blue eyeballs under “creepy cool” and call it a day.
What do you think of this manicure? Would you rock something similar?

Saturday Night Style Inspiration: Simple & Chic

20140308-221559.jpg

You know those Saturday nights where you’re torn between wanting to get totally foxed up and go out and just be lazy as hell? Well, this outfit is basically the personification of that predicament. Who knew it would make for such a sweet vibe?! A simple slip dress pairs perfectly with a long, drapey cardigan so you’re covered no matter what kind of Saturday night yours turns into. Top everything off with a cropped leather moto jacket and ankle boots for a night-out look or slip on those UGGs you know you have in the back of your closet and curl up in front of your TV and catch up on those episodes of True Detective you missed. Cute, comfortable, and easily styled–that’s the kind of look we love.
What are your Saturday night plans? Wearing an especially cute outfit?!?
