Life Meets Style: Perfectly Plated

I’ll be honest–It’s not every day that a table setting catches my eye. This one, however, is a different story. From floral details to pattern to shine, everything about this scene is perfection. I mean, don’t you want to know what the story is with this setting? Isn’t it a party you’d like to attend? I do! I would! Bold, feminine, and beautiful–eye-catching and aspirational. The perfect plate!

Thirsty Thursday: Purple Rain

20140410-220313.jpg
We’ve talked pink drinks at length in this column, but purple drinks are uncharted territory! Being a Minnesota girl, however, as soon as I spotted this violet cocktail on Pinterest, I knew I had to share it with you all. After all, it’s named after a Prince song! Prince! We love Prince. And on the weekends, some of us love cocktails. This is the best of both worlds. Here’s how it’s done!
Purple Rain
1 1/4oz blue curaçao
1 1/4oz vodka
2oz cranberry juice
2oz pineapple juice
1/4oz lime juice
Shake all ingredients & pour over ice, or blend with ice for a frozen drink. Enjoy!
Drink up, Mieuxs! ❤

Life Meets Style: Urban Shoe Paradise

20140409-130054.jpg
While I’ve never particularly identified as a “shoe girl”, I can definitely appreciate a particularly fabulous pair of pumps, a wear-everywhere boot, or a classic sneaker–especially when they’re on display. This snap from ELLE Decor showcases ALL of the aforementioned players in a quality shoe game and expertly arranges them from floor to ceiling. A little overwhelming? Perhaps. But I, for one, am totally down with the clothing-as-decor movement that appears to be sweeping through the interior design scene. Fashion and function is an absolute must for smaller spaces…and when your footwear collection is this massive and enviable, I’m sure there’s just an innate desire to show off put your sartorial goodies on display. No shame.
What do you think of this amazing space? Do you meld fashion and function or delve into style-meets-storage solutions?

Simply pick a drink to create, follow the hand-drawn recipe, and enjoy! A printout of this would make a super-cute poster, housewarming present, or refrigerator accessory, no? Fashion Fools?

20140402-204659.jpg
If you’re at all tuned-in to the fashion blogosphere, you probably witnessed Cupcakes and Cashmere’s April fool’s tease: The Statement Anklet. While the 4/1 post date was a pretty obvious indication that we were being tricked, I have to admit that I’m actually a little bit upset that this “trend” is a hoax! After all…those ubiquitous statement necklaces of yesteryear HAVE been taking up more space in your jewelry box than on your neck as of late, no? Plus, nothing jazzes up a bare leg like some jewels, right? 😉 K, maybe not, but I’m all about a little ankle icing every now and then. I mean THESE?! Kind of fabulous. Honestly, if this trend catches on, I won’t hate it.
Were you a victim of any April Fools shenanigans yesterday? Any similarly awful-but amazing styles you secretly love?
