TrendablFeatured1

You already have Twitter. Pinterest. Instagram. Facebook. Snapchat. Vine. But if you’re a fellow fashion obsessee, you should probably consider adding Trendabl to your lineup!

TrendablSplash

Billed as “a community to share and discover fashion”, Trendabl is a fashion-focused, iPhone-only application that allows users to not only upload and edit, and share photos of anything fashion related, but also to tag them with key product info like brand, store, color, and price. Trendabl users can follow people (ie: friends, celebrities, bloggers, stylists), publications (fashion magazines, Refinery 29), and brands, and use the app’s search and filter functions to discover new trends, products, and styles. Oh, it’s also the perfect place to post all of your most vain #ootd snaps sans judgment. Sounds pretty addictive! Did I mention it’s free?! Mhmm!

At the moment, Trendabl is only available for iOS, but makers say that they do have plans to make the application available for other platforms in the future. In the meantime, non-iPhone users can get their Trendabl fix through the community’s blog on Tumblr or Instagram. Both are excellent resources for fashion inspiration…and who doesn’t want more of that!

Want It Wednesday: Classic Canvas Sneakers

Classic. Image Credit

Classic. Image Credit

I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a shoe girl. While I may casually lust over a pair of spiked Louboutins, the probability of my actually wearing anything over a three inch heel (especially if it’s not a wedge) is slim to none. This being said, I can totally appreciate a hot shoe from afar and do have an ever-expanding collection of flats to fit my needs…I just don’t really care. Shoes just don’t quicken my heart rate like a fabulous dress or pair of jeans do!

Since you’re now aware of my general indifference towards footwear, you can probably see why this post is kiiind of a big deal: It takes a lot to get me excited about shoes. But I really want canvas sneakers. And I can’t explain it! I cannot STAND athletic shoes being worn outside of the gym. Ew ew ew. Nothing ruins a cute outfit on either sex like the addition of a tennis shoe. It’s just…wrong. Though I’ve never owned a pair myself, I can tolerate Converse from time to time, but in most cases, I’d rather see a look finished with flats, sandals, even flip flops than with sporty shoes. So why do I like Keds?! I’ll try to break it down for all of us–myself included.

  • They’re effortless. Canvas sneakers epitomize basic: They’re a solid color with white laces. You don’t have to think much when you put them on. They don’t draw a ton of attention and they don’t pull focus from your look. They’re simple, polished, and sharp. Another perk: the style is so basic, they’re also totally open to fun customization like DIY dye jobs or studs.
  • They’re inexpensive. Classic Champion Canvas Keds retail at only $40, but you can easily get the same look for much less. Urban Outfitters, for example, has canvas sneakers for $18 or 2 for $30,  Payless has them for $15, and every thrift store I’ve ever encountered has them for under $5. Gotta love a bargain!
  • They’re flat. Perfect for all of my daytime adventures running around town and random shopping trips. Hello comfort and endless wearability!
  • They’re classic. My mom wore Keds, you guys. Your mom probably did too. And they remind me of Dirty Dancing. This is a style that has withstood the test of time, a fact which I can totally appreciate. Also, like the oxford, these neutral lace-ups are androgynous and are worn equally well by both genders.
  • They’re everywhere. Not only can you buy these puppies at virtually every fast fashion retailer (Forever, H&M, even Target!) I’m also seeing the style around everywhere these days. What can I say? The look is growing on me!

Are you a fan of these low-key kicks? How do you style them? What’s on your Wednesday wish list? Leave a comment and let us know!

Keds Does Clothes

They’re not just for shoes anymore! Fresh off of the heels of their Kate Spade x Keds collaboration, iconic shoemaker Keds is launching a new collection: Apparel. Though this isn’t Keds’ first foray into clothing (the brand partnered with Opening Ceremony for a super-hip capsule collection two years ago), the line is slated to be bigger than ever with super cute, classic-inspired looks.

Fashion Expansion: Keds does clothing! Peep the entire lookbook now on SheFinds.

Fashion Expansion: Keds does clothing! Peep the entire lookbook now on SheFinds.

The full spring 2013 collection will be available on keds.com and select pieces are already for sale at Macy’s in their Juniors section. You can expect lots of print (especially dots), bursts of primary colors, and playful silhouettes, all for $60 or less. The look is very young, bright, and commercial…The pieces are things you could imagine yourself wearing while eating a popsicle in on the 4th of July, or see Taylor Swift wearing in one of her videos. You know, “cute”.

...And she's wearing Keds of course!

…And she’s wearing Keds of course!

Personally, I’m more a fan of the looks for Keds for Opening Ceremony–Keds has a pretty proven track record for successful (or at least aesthetically pleasing) collaborations thus far– incredibly well but the new Keds price point is hard to beat! And I am a fan of their cropped tie shirt, classic denim jacket, and basically all of their shoes. But that’s just me!

What do you think about Keds’ new clothing line? Is it your style? Are there any items you HAVE to have? Let me know below!

Hot or Not: Jellies

All of you 80s and 90s babies probably have semi-fond memories of the classic jelly sandal – the official shoe of our youth! While I was never allowed to have a pair (“they’ll make your feet feel sticky!”) I always coveted the colorful plastic shoes – especially those that were pink and contained glitter. Worn with socks.

Lucky for me–and any of you jelly babies out there–jelly shoes have officially made their comeback! Straying away from their chunky, strappy 90s beginnings, the newest crop of jellies are available as super-chic flip flops, flats, and even wedge styles.

Of course, if you’re more of a purist, the classic jellies we fell in love with back in lower school are available, too. And somehow, I actually think they’re kind of cute! Check out how these stylish ladies add a little retro attitude to their otherwise-very-2013 outfits with these badboys!

Did I mention that designers are peddling a myriad of high-end jellies? They are! From Valentino to Gucci to Givenchy – even CHANEL, jelly shoes are hitting the shelves.

Personally, I’m inclined to say that jelly shoes are hot! In fact, here at Mieux & Mieux, we just sold a pair of pink Tory Burch jelly flats that may have inspired this very article! So cute. But would you wear them?! Let us know, fashionistas! Are 2013’s jelly shoes hot or not?

Hot or Not: Knee-High Gladiator Sandals

Kate Moss for Stewart Weitzman

Kate Moss for Stuart Weitzman

They’re back, ladies! Our favorite summer shoe circa 2010 are making a comeback this season with a rather dramatic twist: a little extra coverage. While models have been sporting the daring style for the past few years both on and off the runway, it seems as though 2013 will be the year knee-high gladiators reach the masses. With iterations from Alloy, Jeffery Campbell + Free PeopleStuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo, model-off-duty (or international cool girl!) style has never been in closer reach.

HotorNot

While I personally think they’re super hot, I do have to admit that I would have a bit of trouble attempting to fit them into my day-to-day wardrobe! Nothing a shopping trip or two can’t fix, however 😉

Would you wear knee-high gladiators, Mieux girls? Why or why not? Leave us a comment and share your thoughts! And make sure to check in online and in store at Mieux & Mieux–you never know if we’ll have a pair of these super trendy sandals in your size!

Trend Alert: Strapped

For those of you who have not caught wind of the latest shoe trend, behold the super chic ankle strap heel. This trend is my current obsession and first blew up with designer Alexander Wang‘s Fall 2011 collection, with other designers in hot pursuit. While the ankle strap really isn’t something revolutionary, it went from the special-occasion shoe to the everyday go-to. Blogger’s love this style, pairing it with the traditional cocktail dress, to jeans and a blazer. Here’s the breakdown:

wang lliya 495

(Wang Liya, $495)

wang joan leather point toe pump 545 272

(Wang Joan, $545)

Wang antonia 495

(Wang Antonia, $495)

The Great Alexander Wang has got it down. Something about his clean solid designs have really taken the fashion world by storm. The unique silhouettes of his shoes make the foot look straight sexy. The ankle strap is function and fashion, allowing the shoes to stay fastened, but also the design to become increasingly bold yet minimal. Barely there is the name of the game. When I first saw his “Joan” pointed-toe white leather pump, I was a mess. These pumps are no joke.

NG JC solitaire-platform-pump-blush-suede 140 NG tryst-pump 60

(Nastygal Jeffery Campbell, $140)       (NastyGal Tryst Pump, $60)

NG JC dont-even-platformwhite-leather 145

(NastyGal Jeffery Campbell, $145)

NastyGal.com is a great online shopping website full of unique and trendy styles. Shoe designer Jeffery Campbell, known for his outrageous, yet fairly affordable shoe candy, created some similar pairs. The same barely-there ankle strap pointed-toe silhouette is priced for a lot less, but with good quality.

zara vamp 49.90

(Zara Vamp, $49.90)

zara 49.90

(Zara Contrast Heel, $49.90)

Let it be known, I love Zara. Their shoes are always inspired by the latest designs and are surprisingly really comfortable, not to mention affordable and accessible. Being fashionably paranoid, I will always opt to buy things in-store rather than online, so when Zara jumped on the ankle strap bandwagon, I was first in line. My favorites are their Vamp heels because they are the perfect union of style, comfort, and affordability.

xxi d'orsay 26.80xxi colorblock plat 24.80

(XXI, D’Orsay Pump, $26.80)                     (XXI, Colorblock Platform, $24.80)

Forever 21 is a massive movement. Sometime is can be overwhelming going into the store or scrolling through their massive inventory online, but they are definitely on point when it comes to the latest trends. For those of you who love the ankle strap look, but just don’t wear heels too often, I suggest a pair of XXI pumps. They are affordable (you might not get too many wears, though) and trendy.

Target Mossimo Vinta 29.99 soldout

(Target Mossimo Vinta Ankle-Strap, $29.99)

target gurung pump 39.99 soldout

(Prabal Gurung for Target Sulphur Pump, $39.99)

Target has definitely stepped up their game. Interestingly enough, many designers create collections specifically for Target such as Prabal Gurung. First of all, he’s a genius. Second, his collection for Target is great. It’s a bit of everything. You have the ankle strap, the heel, the color, and most of all, the price. His collection is virtually sold out online, but you can still find them in-store. Aside from Gurung, I found these super cute and comfy Mossimo pumps as well.

Looking at some of the trends coming off Fashion Week, these ankle strap beauties aren’t going anywhere. We can anticipate some other unique shoes trends hitting consumer markets soon such as the sandal boot, printed shoes, metallics, and chunky heels. Mieux & Mieux  keeps a good circulation of styles and brands. Keep up with the trends and our inventory, and if they are hot, you can be sure Mieux & Mieux will be on it.

Fashion in Transition: How to Dress with Style Between Seasons

MieuxHeaderImage

The transition from winter to spring can be rough. From rain storms to mornings that start cold and afternoons that end warm to weather conditions that are generally unpredictable, figuring out what to wear to be comfortable and look cute can get rather complicated. What’s a Mieux girl to do? Be prepared, of course! Check out some of our helpful hints for staying stylish throughout the seasons.

KelsTights

Hot tights!

Add some tights. We all know the transformational power of a great pair of tights. They can truly make or break an outfit! The perfect addition to an all-season wardrobe, tights (and/or socks!) are a great tool to add both style and warmth for under $20. Our favorite picks this season include print, colored opaques, and  trompe l’ oeil–as modeled by our owner Kelsey above. Whether you layer a sheer black pair under shorts with boots or go wild with oxblood lace, hosiery is an absolute essential in any fashionista’s wardrobe. Naturally, Mieux & Mieux has a fabulous selection of legwear if you’re looking to update your collection!

MieuxShoeCollage

Change your shoes. What girl doesn’t want more shoes?! Arguably the easiest seasonal adjustment comes in swapping your footwear. Try your favorite winter skinnies with a new pair of statement flats for spring, or rock a spring dress with some classic leather boots. I’ve even seen a romper–summer’s fashion staple–adapted for winter with the addition of ankle boots, tights, and an infinity scarf. Don’t be afraid to mix and match! Make sure to pick up some wedges and a pair of wellington boots to cover all of your bases – no matter the month or the weather. Combining shoes from all seasons to form new, cohesive looks guarantees the most bang for your buck!

Layering

Plenty of pieces for layering available @ Mieux & Mieux!

Layer up! …Duh, right? The between-season phases are the perfect time to pile on the layers, so wear all of your favorite pieces! Take advantage of cool morning temperatures by wearing a light jacket, zip-up, or cardigan–belted for shape. As things heat up, ditch the sleeves in favor of a trendy denim vest. Don’t be afraid to go go bare this summer, but consider stowing a favorite scarf in your bag for cool or rainy nights. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished I’d had a scarf in a freezing movie theater! Lesson learned: The right scarf can be worn in any season and is always a super chic addition to an ensemble.

Speak Up! How do you transition your wardrobe from season to season? What is your favorite all-season fashion item? What would you like to see on the blog?! Leave us a comment and let us know!

Mieux & Mieux Customer, Krista, scores NWT Zara Kitten heels.

59714_337893792976846_703558869_n
Krista is rarely caught in the same shoes twice. Having to keep up with her fetish can become expensive. Luckily, she has Mieux & Mieux to turn to where she knows she won’t have to sacrifice brand name fashions because of the economy.

She left a happy pretty lady finding brand new Zara kitten heels from us for only $17! The black suede with royal blue toe is definitely worth wearing at least twice.
