Natalia Noemi Keery-Fisher, better known by her stage name Natalia Kills, is another English import I’m currently loving. The 26-year-old is no stranger to show business–she started her acting career in the UK at age 9, worked on a long-running BBC radio-drama, and started writing songs at only 14! It was her win in the Radio 1 MC Battle, though, that truly launched Kills’ music career: she signed with a record label under the name Verbalicious and released her first single in 2005. Fast forwarding eight years to the present, Natalia has christened a new moniker and ditched her previous “Candy Rapper” image in favor for a more dance-pop sound. Today, in fact, Kills considers Kate Bush and Alanis Morissette as her most important musical influences and is inspired by Gwen Stefani, Vanity 6, and Prince. Girl has good taste! Add in some Gaga and a dash of Minaj and you’ve got Natalia’s sound in a (very small) nutshell. Her newest single “Problem” is the first track from her sophomore studio album, Trouble, which is set to debut this September. If “Problem” sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because it’s featured in the new Shoedazzle commercial…And if “I Love It” + Shoedazzle was any indication, we’ll be hearing a lot of “Problem” in the future. Be warned: It’s dark, dirty, and totally raw–not what you’d expect from the snippet in the Shoe ad! 😉 Check it out here!

Feeling Natalia Kills? What are you listening to this week? Any new jams to report? Leave a note and let me know!
