Ahh, gingham. From tablecloths on picnic tables to little girls in pinafore dresses, gingham is a fabric that’s forever linked to classic summer Americana. If you’re not wearing gingham this season, you must! Here are a few of my favorite pieces to get your gingham on.
Classic: Frank & Eileen ‘Barry’ Gingham Shirt
This gingham button-up from Ron Herman epitomizes classic. I mean, can’t you totally imagine some pin-up girl rocking a version of this style? You can live that fantasy with this shirt! Whether you rock it tied up with a pair of daisy dukes or tucked into a pair of skinnies this fall, this silhouette and print are both style staple material.
Trendy: Ozzie Gingham Zip Shorts
You can always count on Nasty Gal to deliver super-cute, on-trend threads, and these gingham shorts fit the bill! I’m loving the super-flattering high waist, exposed zipper in the back, and stand-out front pockets. Though they’re adorable, the super-short hemline and exploded gingham pattern keep these from entering too-twee territory.
Daring: Wildfox Gingham Frill Trim Bikini
It’s no secret that we love Wildfox here at Mieux & Mieux, and this gingham bikini provides killer evidence as to why. The whisper-soft lavender paired with a sexy balconette cut top and vintage-inspired high-waist bottoms are summer perfection. Did we mention it’s frilly? Loving it.
Subtle: Kate Spade Spring Gingham Silk Scarf
If you want to add just a touch of gingham to your summer looks, this Kate Spade scarf is an ideal styling tool. Tie it around your neck, wrap it up into a trendy turband, or protect your locks from getting windswept or sun damaged during convertible rides. And hey, if none of those options are your thing, you can always make it a handbag accessory and tie it to a strap of your purse.
Splurge-Worthy: ROCHAS Pearl/Black Gingham Silk Satin Dress
If you’re deeply vested in the gingham phenom and willing to spend a bit (okay, a lot) more, there’s no better piece to add to your collection than this gingham dress by Rochas. At $1,680 on sale, it’s definitely a splurge! Looking like a sexy 2013 version of an I Love Lucy character, though, is arguably pretty priceless.
How do you feel about gingham, loves? Is this one of your summer staples?
